Popular 23-acre bungalow-style Hyatt resort property returns with new health and sanitization standards and temporarily modified services amid the COVID-19 crisis
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (May 15, 2020) –Andaz Scottsdale Resort and Bungalows is now open. As a member of the Hyatt portfolio of hotel properties, the Andaz has added rigorous new standards for health and safety through the Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment , which focuses on the safety and wellbeing of colleagues and guests in a COVID-19 world and beyond. The commitment includes plans for hotel-level health and sanitization accreditation and hygiene specialists, as well as newly implemented processes to promote social distancing and contactless experience. The resort opens with temporarily modified services according to state and federal recommendations.
Recognized by Conde Nast Traveler 2019 Readers' Choice Awards as one of the top resorts in the Southwest and Travel + Leisure 2018 It List, Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows combines mid-century modern design with local art to create an exceptional Sonoran Desert experience. Inspired by the colorful palate of the desert and timeless design of Alexander Girard, this secluded 23-acre, 185-bungalow urban oasis is uniquely away from it all, in the middle of everything in the heart of Scottsdale. The much-photographed property has gained popularity on travel blogs and social media as a ‘highly Instagrammable’ hotel destination.
"With over 23 acres of lush, park-like property and a bungalow-style layout, the Andaz Scottsdale is the ideal resort experience for those looking to for a safe, socially-distanced staycation or vacation," said Jeffrey Miller, General Manager, Andaz Scottsdale Resort and Bungalows. "The property is unique in that there are very few enclosed spaces. With no elevators, corridors or connecting rooms, guests can enjoy a completely contactless experience after check-in."
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Andaz Scottsdale has made the following changes:
Safety and Health
As part of Hyatt’s Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment, the Andaz Scottsdale will begin to implement new guidelines and protocols that include:
- Increased frequency of cleaning with hospital-grade disinfectants on all high-touch surfaces and areas such as lobbies, guestrooms, restaurants, meeting and event spaces, recreational areas, public restrooms, fitness centers, elevator buttons, all employee areas, and more
- Implementation of enhanced food safety and hygiene protocols for restaurants, room service, and group meetings and events
- Prominently placed hand sanitizer stations throughout hotel public and employee areas and entrances
- Protective masks and other equipment worn by hotel colleagues
- Social distancing guidance in public areas across hotel properties
Resort Amenities
In accordance with state and federal recommendations as well as CDC guidelines, the Andaz Scottsdale will temporarily modify its property amenities to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests and staff.
Temporary modifications include:
- Dining will be limited to the Turquoise Pool Bar, with outdoor seating and takeaway available
- Access to the spa and spa services will be unavailable (expected to reopen by June 1st)
Miller emphasizes that the new health and safety protocols implemented across Hyatt brands will enhance the resort experience and deliver an unprecedented level of peace-of-mind for business and leisure travelers alike.
According to Experience Scottsdale, local travel and regional stays could be a bright spot for the hospitality industry in the coming weeks and throughout the summer. Following the Coronavirus crisis, demand for resort stays in Arizona has been strong. Andaz Scottsdale is expected to open with 30% capacity this week, exceeding local and national projections for hotel reopenings.
“While our commitment is to ensure the utmost safety for our guests, we recognize that people are very much looking forward to getting out of the house and enjoying some summer fun," Miller said. "With Arizona set for statewide reopening this week, we are seeing significant demand from drive-in markets such as California and Colorado," he said. "This may be the first time in history that we see a large constituency of California travelers heading to Arizona for summer vacation instead of the other way around. We are certainly optimistic about that," he said.
Earlier this year, the Andaz Scottsdale announced that it would open resort and pool amenities to local day guests. Additionally, the hotel plans to introduce a variety of property-wide discounts and new summer programming focused on locally-driven partnerships showcasing the playful nature of the Andaz brand with specialty food and beverage offerings, fitness and wellness experiences, outdoor music experiences and more,” he said.
