AZ-based occupational healthcare provider opens Coronavirus hotline for essential workers and their employers
PHOENIX -- ( April 14, 2020) As confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the state, essential workers are growing more concerned about potential exposure to the Coronavirus. Phoenix-based Medicine for Business and Industry (MBI, Inc.) has launched a new COVID-19 Triage Hotline staffed by medical providers able to answer questions about symptoms and exposure. This new hotline provides workers with instant access to expert clinicians trained to identify potential Coronavirus cases quickly.
"Keeping workers healthy, safe and productive has always been is our #1 priority," said Brian O'Hayre, CEO of Medicine for Business and Industry.
"In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, employers are more concerned than ever for the health and well-being of their employees and the public and MBI has shifted a significant amount of resources towards efforts to help employers maintain a healthy and safe workforce," he said.
Under the latest guidelines for essential workers, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that employees take their temperatures before their shifts, wear face masks and practice social distancing at work. They also are advised to stay home if they are ill, not share headsets or other objects used near the face and refrain from congregating in crowded break rooms.
With the ADHS and state hotlines receiving thousands of phone calls a day and callers reporting wait times up to 4 hours or more, MBI's COVID-19 Triage Hotline offers a direct resource to medical providers skilled in workplace healthcare who are able to quickly identify potential COVID-19 cases over the phone.
"While hotlines cannot provide clinical advice as a doctor can, the staff can still answer questions regarding novel coronavirus testing, symptoms and prevention, which allows employers to quickly identify and quarantine workers who may be sick while protecting other workers and minimizing any potential impact to business operations," O'Hayre said.
For essential employees who are worried about going to work amid potential exposure to the virus, the MBI COVID-19 Triage Hotline has been a helpful resource to alleviate concerns about symptoms or exposure and quickly identify potential workplace carriers that may pass the virus along to others.
"If an employee begins to feel sick, or believes they were exposed to the virus, they are able to call the hotline and talk to our providers about what they are experiencing. Having direct access to a medical provider trained to identify Coronavirus symptoms gives workers some much-needed peace-of-mind during this evolving health crisis," he said.
Employers who are interested in providing their workforce with access to the MBI COVID-19 Triage Hotline should call 602-272-7676 to receive coverage today.
