After a year-long pandemic hiatus, local childhood cancer foundation Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels aims to raise $500,000 this Saturday at Hollywood glamour-themed in-person benefit with dinner, dancing and charity auction
Donors and supporters of the Amanda Hope Rainbow Angel foundation gather at the 2019 'Night of Hope' Gala in support of Arizona families fighting childhood cancer
(PHOENIX, ARIZ. -- September 3, 2021) September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and in Arizona that means philanthropy season starts with a bang. After 18 months of fits and starts, gala season is back for Fall 2021 kicking off with the Amanda Hope Rainbow Angel foundation's annual 'Night of Hope' Old Hollywood Gala on September 18th. This Saturday, the Phoenix-based childhood cancer foundation aims to break all previous fundraising records by raising $500,000 to benefit local families this year.
For nearly a decade Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels [AHRA] has honored the life and memory of Amanda Hope, a pint-sized powerhouse with a personality to match, who lost her battle to Leukemia at the tender age of 12. Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels strive to provide the highest level of comfort and care for children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases. A nonprofit, support, and educational organization, AHRA empowers families to navigate an often confusing and overwhelming healthcare system and also raises money throughout the year to help cover utility bills, provide gas cards, and purchase groceries for Arizona families in need.
When asked about the Night of Hope Gala, AHRA’s founder and CEO Lorraine Tallman is thrilled about the organization's return to in-person events this year. "This year we are pulling out all the stops as we host our signature Old Hollywood themed gala," she said. "We are more grateful than ever to have the opportunity to gather together to celebrate my daughter Amanda’s life and the impact her legacy has on the community. Last year, we raised an outstanding $430,000 to help our warriors of childhood cancer, and I can’t wait to see how much more we can raise in September. Our mission to bring comfort and dignity to the people and families battling cancer and other blood-related illnesses is what continues to drive us every day,” Tallman said.
Kicking things off at 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 18th, 2021 at the luxurious Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch, The Night of Hope Gala will be a hybrid event that offers in-person and virtual attendee options. Inspired by the glamour of Hollywood’s “Golden Age”, the gala will feature cocktails, dinner, and an exciting auction. "We are so grateful for the incredible community support we have sustained this past year, which has allowed us to help hundreds of families dealing with childhood cancer," she said. "This event is a thank you for our gracious long-term donors and a welcome for our new supporters and friends," she said.
Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels is an Arizona-based nonprofit, support and educational organization designated by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible, tax-exempt organization, founded in 2012 in celebration of Amanda Hope’s life. During her three-year fight with leukemia and nine-month battle with a brain tumor, Amanda Hope dreamed that one day she would design a fun clothing line for kids just like her that would provide comfort and dignity during chemo treatments. Amanda's life ended all too soon but her dream lives on through our Comfycozy's for Chemo apparel and her legacy continues with our expansion of programs and services.
"We are just so thrilled to have the opportunity to gather together with our friends and amazing supporters who continually make it possible for us to serve the families of children suffering from childhood cancer in Arizona," Tallman said. "The community really leaned on us for help during last year's most challenging circumstances, and we are so grateful to have been able to lean on our donors and supporters for help," she said.
"Night of Hope 2021 will be a celebration of hope and mark an important milestone in our ongoing mission to fight childhood cancer," Tallman said.
