Vanasek Insurance founder Antonette Vanasek selected to Captain campaign set to demand congressional action for small business on January 13
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA (JANUARY 11, 2020) -- On Thursday, January 13th, business leaders from across the country will join Goldman Sachs for 'Virtual Capitol Hill Day' with members of Congress as part of an effort to demand congressional action for small business amid the ongoing pandemic. Prominent California insurance expert Antonette Vanasek, Founder of leading cybersecurity insurance firm Vanasek Insurance will lead the coalition of business owners selected to participate in the virtual event hosted by the high-profile Goldman Sachs executive leadership group 10,000 Small Business Voices.
"For the last year our group has worked tirelessly to campaign for funding and resources to help struggling business owners in California and throughout the country," Vanasek said. "We will be making an extremely strong case to demand additional stimulus funding for small business with an emphasis on minority-owned and women-owned businesses," she said.
As Captain of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Voices coalition, Vanasek will lead important discussions on crucial matters that affect small businesses across the U.S. In June 2020, the group urgently voiced the need for an immediate small business bill as well as resources that better serve Black, female, and minority-owned businesses disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This month, the group will return to rally for more resources and improved access for small business owners who need it most.
"We are looking at a radically different business landscape in January than we were in June," Vanasek said. "In the last 6 months we have lost a significant portion of small businesses that will likely never recover," she said. We need actionable results from Congress immediately," Vanasek said.
As a renowned insurance executive, Vanasek has spent much of the last year working with business owners to plan, prepare and mitigate risk as they shift their business operations online amid the rapid changes to the traditional business landscape. Vanasek says that one of the main ways business owners find themselves in trouble is in the hasty shift to doing business online without the proper cybersecurity protections.
"Even if you do everything right, there are still risks in doing business online and criminal enterprises that seek to do harm," she said.
Vanasek says the goal in working with Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Voices program is to make a difference for small business owners everywhere.
"I am honored to have been selected as a Captain for this campaign because I am a strong voice for women in business, and I will make sure our collective voice is heard," she said.
Goldman Sachs has been vocal about their support for small business in recent weeks with CEO David Solomon making influential statements to CBS News and Bloomberg News this week about the policies must pass now. He specifically highlighted that "small business owners need access to capital, they need better incentives to provide healthcare to their employees and they need more help with childcare to make sure they can be present at work and their children are taken care of while they're working and keeping their businesses afloat."
"Small business capital infusion is desperately needed across the board as well as practical solutions for women-owned businesses and families juggling inconsistent school and childcare as the pandemic drags on. More women than ever are being forced to leave the workforce to tend to family and healthcare matters, leaving hard-earned businesses and dreams behind," she said.
"We are grateful to live in a country where Democracy is sacred. We will continue our mission on Capitol Hill so no business owner is forced to give up what they've worked their lives for," Vanasek said.
